The Black United Front is gearing up to host the annual City Wide Kwanzaa celebration. The seven day event kicks off Dec. 26th and runs until Jan. 1st at the Gem Theater located in the historic 18th & Vine Jazz District. Each Night of Kwanzaa is hosted by a different organization. The first night, hosted by NBUF will feature a musical tribute to the liberation struggle. Other host include, ACE Schools, DuBois Learning Center, MC Players, The American Jazz Museum and the Black Poets Collective. The last day of Kwanzaa is set aside for the Umoja Karamu (unity feast) Kwanzaa was started by Dr. Maluna Karenga as a means of getting back to the roots of African Culture during a time when there is so much craziness.
