What is the Platforme?
The Greater Kansas City area is replete with
talented individuals gifted in various areas of the
visual and performing arts.
Many artists, specifically in the genre of spoken word
poetry do not get a chance to share and master
their chosen form of self-expression due to the lack
of viable venues conducive to this type of thought
provoking entertainment. Our goal is to fill that void.
The word Platforme is an acronym which means,
Poetry and Lyriks Artistically Tailored for
Open-mic Readings and Mental Elevation. The
Platforme is an organization working to synthesize
education and entertainment, I call it "Spoken Word
Poetry." This effort takes place in many shapes and
forms. Poets involved with the Platforme are
multi-talented, providing not only original spoken
word poetry, but also a viable skill that many people
and organizations may want to employ. Those skills
range from graphics design to video production just
